Thymosin alpha-1 records checked: September 28, 2026.

## What was approved in the United States?

As of September 28, 2026, the [FDA review record](https://www.fda.gov/media/183892/download) and approval searches found no U.S. approval for thymosin alpha-1.

- The FDA is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

- The [drug-code directory explanation](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-approvals-and-databases/national-drug-code-directory) says that a product’s entry in the directory does not mean the FDA approved it.

## What do the pharmacy ingredient records say?

The [FDA ingredient page](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/certain-bulk-drug-substances-use-compounding-may-present-significant-safety-risks), marked April 22, 2026, still lists concerns about the ingredient. The request to allow its use was taken back by whoever submitted it.

The [panel’s meeting record](https://www.fda.gov/media/185642/download) describes its December 4, 2024 advice against listing two forms of the same ingredient. Their names in that record are thymosin alpha-1 (free base) and thymosin alpha-1 acetate.

- The [current list of permitted ingredients](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-21/chapter-I/subchapter-C/part-216/subpart-B/section-216.23) did not include thymosin alpha-1 when checked September 28, 2026.

- The panel gives advice; its vote does not change the ingredient rules.

## What did the hospital studies show?

The [TESTS paper in BMJ](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39814420/), published in 2025, found no clear reduction in deaths within 28 days in adults with sepsis.

Sepsis is a life-threatening response to an infection. The study does not answer whether healthy adults benefit.

- The authors declared maker support from SciClone Pharmaceuticals.

- The [review of sepsis studies](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40969554/) in 2025 found no clear benefit when it kept only trials it rated more trustworthy.

## Where can I check a care offer?

Rules about getting care were checked September 26, 2026. The licence-search tools were checked September 17, 2026.

- [U.S. health-department guidance](https://telehealth.hhs.gov/licensure/getting-started-licensure) explains that a clinician needs permission to practise where you are during a remote visit.

- The [medical-board directory](https://www.fsmb.org/contact-a-state-medical-board/) points to the state record for a doctor’s licence.

- The [FDA pharmacy lookup](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/besaferx-your-source-online-pharmacy-information/locate-state-licensed-online-pharmacy) points to state pharmacy records.

Checking a licence cannot establish care quality or show whether the product’s rules allow that medicine to be supplied.

## Keep the date with the answer.

If an offer says the rules have changed since these checks, ask to see the new rule or approval record. Compare its date with the dates on this page.

- A trial report answers what happened in that study.

- A guidance document gives recommendations; check your state’s rules to learn what it requires.

- An approval record shows whether the FDA approved a finished medicine.

- An ingredient rule says what a pharmacy may use to make a medicine.
